About the project
When creating a mark, I wanted to symbolically refer to the history of the city. Wałbrzych has grown on coal, which is why I have decided to use it in the logotype. The intention is make a lump of coal in an eye shape created by a fossil – a snail shell and fern. Fossils have much in common with the photographs. They are in fact a kind of photographs from the past, only much more durable. Just like a traditional photograph, they are the result of chemical processes. Furthermore, a number of us start photographic adventure with taking photographs of nature, therefore, to present flora – fern and fauna – a snail shell is in my opinion a specific reference to the sources. The last but not least, EYE – which is the most important tool for a photographer.
It was inspired by a palaeobotanical collection from the the Museum of Wałbrzych, which is one of the largest collection of carboniferous fossil flora in Poland.
